The Holy Spirit is a river, wide and swiftly flowing. It moves on it's own; uninhibited, unimpeded, and in the river of the Holy Spirit is the anointing.
Some are standing along the banks of the river. The anointing is not on the bank. These watch but choose not to enter in. They are observers but not participators. They judge the activity in the river. For we always judge that in which we are not participating and know little or nothing about.
Some wade along the banks. But fear of man threatens to lift them back up to the false security of dry land.
Some walk into the river with arrogance. Attempting to stand firm while the water flows past. It is impossible; for the force of the water is strong. They become unsure, unsteady, their actions have no meaning. For they cannot stand against the flow of the Spirit. The water will not stop because they are standing against it. The anointing flow will go around.
Some construct rafts to travel through on the river. These are man-made contraptions, which they surmise will make the journey easier without discomfort. But the anointing is not on the river, but it is in the river.
Some attempt to walk against the flow. The strain of it saps the strength until weak and unfortified, they try to make their way back to the bank of the river. Or they succumb to the anointing and allow the Lord to work in their lives.
But there are those who walk into the river and let the water carry them along. Perhaps they have tried to walk upstream or stop the flow, but finally giving all over to the peace of the anointing of the Holy Spirit. For the power is in the flow.
Give up to the moving of the Spirit of the Lord. Allow the anointing of the river to overtake you and fill you and give you life more completely, more fulfilling, more rewarding.
